Ordering & Payment
What’s the drop-off and pick-up process?
Let your convenience be your guide. Deliver your tools directly to me, to the drop-off points, through the mail, or through courier services.
Once I see the work to be done, I’ll send a text or email confirming the work and the quote. Once approved, the work will be completed, and you’ll receive a text or email with an invoice that you can pay by cash, check, or Venmo (see below).
After arranging for payment, tools can be picked up or mailed.
Here are four ways to get me your tools:
- Drop off and pick up weekly at Country Home Center in Morrisville.
- I pick up new orders and drop off completed work every Friday at 4 p.m.
- You’ll be notified if your order is completed and ready for pickup before the regular Friday run.
- Through USPS or via Courier: Ensure they are well-secured and safe for whoever handles them. We suggest wrapping with newspaper or kitchen towels and securing it in a quality box.
- Courier or mail to 210 Larson Lane, Hyde Park, VT 05655. Unless you’ve included a check, we will contact you for payment before returning them.
- See below for detailed instructions for packing and shipping.
- Dropping them off in my mailbox (labeled “Cooke”) in Hyde Park:
- 210 Larson Lane, Hyde Park, VT 05655
- Call me personally (802-279-9889) for special handling or emergencies and to arrange a pick-up time and place.
What payment methods do you accept?

- Venmo: @Jay-Cooke-6
Shipping Information
What to do in preparation for either shipping or drop off.
*Note: If your knives are poking through a package, USPS will confiscate them and contact you- please make sure to follow these steps carefully.
- Shipping knives can be dangerous. To ensure everyone’s safety, please agree to safely package your knives and tools for sharpening.
- Insurance Note: If you want to insure your package, please do so. We are not responsible for lost or damaged packages in transit.
- Include a note with specific requests, or to inquire about damaged items. If we see damage that might have occurred during shipping, we will photograph it and inform you before starting work.
A Review for USPS or Courier
- Make sure knives are clean and dry.
- Wrap in newspaper or towels. You can wrap more than one knife together; just make sure there is paper or a towel between each of them.
- Secure the newspaper or towels with tape. Ensure that the knives are tight and won’t fall out. There should be no sound of items bouncing around if the package is shaken.
- Crumple up some additional newspaper and place it between the tips of the knives and the sides of the box. This will help prevent the tips of the knives from poking through the box during transit or handling.
- Fill any empty spaces in the box with more crumpled newspaper.
- Include your notes to clarify any questions or issues. Please note return shipping is $16.
- Close the box and seal it with packing tape. Make sure that all edges are securely taped.
- Address the box and add any necessary shipping labels.
01
Clean
- Making gardening or shop tools spotless is unnecessary, but your care could save time and money.
- Do not put stickers or labels on your knives or tools.
02
Securely Wrapped
For the safety of all, if your knives aren’t securely wrapped, we can’t take them.
03
Turnaround Time
How long does sharpening take?
Turnaround time can depend on what needs to be done and the condition of each knife or tool. The average turnaround time is 1-3, up to 5 days for repairs. Occasionally, high seasons (Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4, etc.) can create delays. But loaner knives are available if needed.
We will give you a better idea when we’ve looked them over.\
- Emergencies and Special events are always considered. Additional fees could be charged.
- Loaners are available.
We can also provide 1-2 day service to restaurants, and emergency service to private chefs and other professionals.
04
Can you fix broken knives?
We can usually reshape a blade that has a broken tip, chips or nicks, or a hollow in the edge. While we can restore handles, we currently don’t offer replacement handles.
